Welcome to the APA Minority Fellowship Program application page. We currently offer seven programs designed to meet varying levels of academic progress.
Based on the fellowship which most fits your needs, please click on the links below for more detailed eligibility requirements and application instructions for your fellowship of interest. To apply, view the "Application Process" tab above for instructions. Only fellowships that are currently accepting applications will be available to view within the portal.
Services for Transition Age Youth (STAY) Fellowship: designed for master's level students providing services to ethnic minority youth (ages 16 to 25) who anticipate entering the field after graduating, rather than immediately entering a doctorate program *
Predoctoral Fellowship in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (MHSAS): created for doctorate-level psychology students training in behavioral health services with a strong commitment to supporting ethnic minority behavioral health *
Postdoctoral Fellowship in MHSAS: established for individuals who have attained their doctorate degree in psychology and are engaged in postdoctoral training that supports ethnic minority behavioral health services or policy *
Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship Program (IMFP): created for graduate students who, as mental health professionals in psychology; nursing; social work; marriage and family therapy; mental health counseling; and substance use and addictions counseling, commit to significantly improving the quality of care provided to ethnic and racial minorities who have a mental or cooccurring mental and substance use disorder.*

Disability Mentoring Program (DMP): This mentoring program is created for those with disabilities in the following categories: psychology graduate students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, early career or psychologists who acquire a disability. Mentees are paired with mentors, who are doctoral level psychologists with a disability or a doctoral level psychologist ally who works closely with research, practice or education related to disability. **
**Applications accepted for only mentors at this time.
LEAP for Diverse Scholars: established for individuals who have attained their doctorate degree in a behavioral science field (psychology, public health, medicine, anthropology) from underrepresented racial and ethnic populations who show promise in research related to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) mission but who have not yet received R01 funding and have not ascended to a leadership position in their respective disciplines or professional associations. ***

Psychology Summer Institute (PSI): a week-long training workshop designed for late stage doctoral students, postdoctoral trainees or early career psychologists with a focus on serving ethnic minority populations through research or service.****

Login to the APA Fellowship System with your email and password.
Select the applicable Fellowship from the drop down list to create an application.
During the applications period, your application can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. At any time, you can download and print your application by clicking on the 
icon in the application Summary section.
On completion, submit your application as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your application for your records by clicking on the icon in the application Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Deadline, you can make the update and resubmit as FINAL.
